Here at Bespoke Frameless Glass, a common questions that our clients ask us is ‘what’s the best way to clean a glass shower?’
Once you’re enjoying the added light, open ambiance that a glass shower screen brings to your bathroom, it’s only natural that you’ll want to keep it sparkling!
Here are our top tips for cleaning your glass shower…

DIY OR STORE-BOUGHT GLASS CLEANER?
While you may prefer to buy a cleaning spray from your favourite brand, one of the most effective (and affordable) methods for cleaning your glass shower is to use a DIY cleaning recipe. Many people also choose to use a DIY glass cleaner as it natural ingredients means that it’s non-toxic and safe for children and pets – something that’s important when cleaning a much-used area like your shower.
To create a DIY glass cleaner, you need just 3 simple ingredients: a spray bottle, white vinegar and water.
Fill the spray bottle with equal parts white vinegar and water. Then just shake it up, spray it on the glass and leave it to act for a few minutes to dissolve any build-up before wiping it away. Ta da! This solution is perfect if you find that your glass is affected by water spots, and should leave things gleaming.
Stubborn spots can be buffed away by dipping a sponge in baking soda, and scrubbing the glass before rinsing it off.
Drying your glass shower with a microfibre cloth or squeegee gives an even more sparkling result.
Store-bought glass cleaners can work just as well – just remember to spray on, polish off, then rinse with water for a final shine.
HOW TO PREVENT BUILD-UP ON YOUR SHOWER GLASS
As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure! To stop soap scum for building up and clouding your glass shower, switching to a liquid soap instead of a bar can help.
If you live in a hard water area, you can add a water softener attachment to your shower head to dramatically reduce the build up of minerals in your shower, making cleaning much easier.
Drying off or squeegee-ing your shower after use can help to prevent any mildew from moisture, and also cuts down on your cleaning time.
HOW TO SQUEEGEE SHOWER GLASS
The best way to keep your glass clean is to stop water from drying on it – something a squeegee is perfect for.
After the shower’s last use for the day, squeegee from top to bottom in long, even strokes to achieve a streak-free shine on your glass. This will stop deposits building up, and save you time on your next bathroom clean.
Cleaning the shower after it’s been used is also the ideal time to remove build-up from your glass screen, as the warm water and steam helps to loosen any grime.
Many people like to keep a squeegee hanging in their shower, making it a simple daily habit that extends the shine of their shower glass.
HOW OFTEN DOES A GLASS SHOWER NEED CLEANING?
Here’s our suggested schedule for cleaning your frameless glass shower…
Every day: After using the shower, squeegee the shower glass
Weekly: Give your shower are a spray and a wipe down
Once a month: Go for a deeper clean – scrub your shower, and use a water-repellent spray to reduce hard water stains
WHAT IS THE EASIEST TYPE OF SHOWER DOOR TO CLEAN?
We may be biased, but we find that frameless glass showers are the easiest type of shower to keep clean.
With no messy tracks or hinges to worry about, glass shower enclosures are simple to wipe clean in one quick motion, and relatively easy to maintain. And since the shower area is always open, moisture is able to escape your shower, rather than building up and risking mould and mildew.
